Bonnie Brae Neighborhood In Denver
If you’re interested in buying or selling a home in central Denver (or anywhere in the Denver metro area), let’s talk. To schedule a free real estate consultation, please call (303) 222-0027, or e-mail contact@centraldenverhomes.com.

Initially developed in the 1920s with high-end homes, Bonnie Brae (which is Gaelic for “pleasant hill”) was meant to resemble a Scottish village. When the developer went bankrupt in 1928, development stopped and didn’t restart until the late 1930s.
Across its diagonal and curved, tree-lined streets, the Bonnie Brae neighborhood is largely comprised of bungalows, Tudor style homes, and stately mansions. But a number of large, modern homes are entering the mix, as developers buy up older homes, scrape them off, and replace them with new custom homes. Sometimes, the new build fits the character, scale, and architecture of the block; other times, not so much.
Ellipse Park, one of Denver’s little “pocket parks,” sits in the center of Bonnie Brae. On University Boulevard, you can find a library, restaurants, shops, and Bonnie Brae ice cream, a locals’ favorite.
Until recently, the zoning in Bonnie Brae only allowed for single family homes, so there are no duplexes, townhomes, or condos.
